HackED

In the Fall of 2024, EMIC partnered with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) to put on HackED: the largest hackathon in Emergency Medicine. There participants harnessed the power of emergency medicine problem-solving to build solutions and improve care!

Missed HackED?

EMIC members can access all the recordings from our high yield speaker series in our Innovation Masterclass section via the Member Hub.

HackED hosted two tracks for participants to choose from: the Software Track and Hardware Track. Both tracks kicked off in the Summer 2024 with team formation and dove into a virtual speaker series. The program culminated in a pitch competition after a 3-day live event during Scientific Assembly 2024 in Las Vegas, NV.

Participant Tracks: Software and Hardware

Software Track

The Software Track includes innovations ranging from digital health to telemedicine to remote patient monitoring and AI/ML in diagnostics, and everything in between. The Software Track tasks participants with developing a comprehensive software solution, including a business plan and back-end coding using either code or no-code platforms, accompanied by a front-end interface. Participants are encouraged to focus on ideas that improve the cost, quality, or efficiency of care.

Hardware Track

The Hardware Track includes innovations ranging from wearable devices to 3D printing to point-of-care ultrasound to biometric sensors, and everything in between. The Hardware Track challenges participants to develop a novel device, either through physical construction or digital modeling, along with a comprehensive business plan. Participants are encouraged to focus on ideas that contribute to the advancement of physical device innovation, particularly in supporting point-of-care diagnostics, remote patient monitoring, imaging, or treatment.
